BLAIR SIMPSON.....
Blair Simpson grew up in Brownsville,
Tennessee, not far from Nashville or Memphis. "Music has always been
an important part of my life", says Blair. She was raised in a
musical family and started singing at a very young age.
Like other artists from this part of Tennessee, Blair
learned classic gospel songs such as “Amazing Grace” and others from
her mother and grandmother.
She has been professionally trained vocally since she
was four. Along with her training Blair began singing in church
about this time. She soon moved on to local festivals and charity
events and has become a local and regional favorite. Blair won 1st
place in the first talent show she entered with a stellar
performance of Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing.
She is blessed with an incredible vocal range not
unlike "Houston", Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood and others.
Blair continued to perform several styles of music with
ease, then one day her mom took her to a Miranda Lambert concert. "I
remember standing in the stadium crowd watching all of the screaming
fans while Miranda was singing Kerosene – that was when I
knew that I wanted to be a country music singer", says Blair.
Blair has been performing steadily since then and has
now become an accomplished acoustic guitarist. She is also a very
talented songwriter, currently writing songs for her debut CD with
some of Nashville’s best writers.
Blair recently signed with Performance Rights
Organization, ASCAP. ASCAP’s Ralph Murphy signed her to an exclusive
songwriter’s agreement soon after hearing just a few of Blair’s
original songs. Her songs are in heavy rotation on local radio
stations and she is currently a finalist in the "West Tennessee
Idol". On just about any Friday night that Blair is not performing,
you can find her with her brother and their friends playing and
singing the songs she writes about the "Tennessee River" way of
life.
Blair will be moving to Nashville in August in order to
take the next steps in her music career. She’ll be writing,
performing and becoming part of the Nashville Music community. Blair
is very dedicated to her craft, gives each performance her all and
believes the old music business saying, Nashville, Must Be Present
